“We are very interested in signing Jorge again and we have already started negotiations. We are working with his management but we are in no rush. A good term for Yamaha is to have another two-year contract.

"Yamaha likes to do this with Valentino and it’s a trend I’m sure they will want to continue with Jorge. We don’t want to rush things though to create any distractions to Jorge so that he can concentrate on doing his job on the track.

"I think both Yamaha and Jorge want to continue together, so this is already a very positive step, “said Romagnoli.
